workstation lost from network

Have had several computers (XP and Win2000 Pro) which
are part of a doamin on server 2000, not able to logon to
the system although had logon fine before.

The message displayed is "The system cannot log you on
to this domain because the system's computer account in
its primary domain is missing or the password on the
account is incorrect."

No matter what user account is tried same message.
These are machines that have been on the network for the
past eight months with no problems.

Have to go through the steps to get the PC to re-join
the network. Log on to the Admin account for the local
machine. Then go through the 'network id wizard' to
reestablish the machine onto the network.

.
Rick,

Try resetting the account in the Active Directory Users
and Computers MMC ( ADUC MMC ). Simply go to the
Container or OU where the computer account objects
reside, right click and choose "reset account".

You can also do this with the NETDOM utility that is a
part of the Support Tools. The Support Tools can be
found in two locations: on the WIN2000 Server CD in the
Support | Tools folder or on the WIN2000 Service Pack CD
in the Suppoty | Tools folder. I would go with the
Service Pack CD if possible.

HTH,

Cary
