Worksheet Tabs Missing

J

Jules

We have a user who when opening a particular Excel
document in Excel 2000, loses the worksheet tabs and
scrollbar from the bottom of the page. We have looked at
the options and she still has the sheet tabs options
checked - we've also checked she's not on full screen or
anything else obvious. The same document works fine for
her colleague, also on 2000. We're stumped! Any
suggestions would be greatly welcolmed.

Thanks,
Jules

Jules,

Are the horizontal scroll bar and the status bar visible? If not,
it might be the case that the application is not maximized and
the lower part of the Excel window is hidden behind the Windows
Task Bar. Try maximizing the Excel window.

Yeah we thought that too... but it wasn't the answer.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

I don't know if this is the answer, but the scroll bar can be dragged over
the sheet tabs, hiding them.
Click+Drag the left edge of the scroll bar to the right (US) and see if that
reveals the tabs.

Go to TOOLS, Then OPTIONS. Under the VIEW tab, there is a
check box on the bottom, that says Sheet Tabs. Make sure
it's checked.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the reply but as I stated in my post, we
already tried that. It doesn't make a difference.

Any other reasons why it's missing?

I have the same problem with Office97 running on Xp Pro. Help and other
forums say to rename the username8.xlb file....

Great...:D

But where is it....

Help says it should be in \windows\system32 but it ain't . Another
alternative is the Excel8.xlb file but again can't find it.

Any takers?

You can use Windows Start button to search for *.xlb.

But I'd be surprised if the file that holds customized toolbars would have
anything to do with the missing worksheet tabs.

(But I've been surprised before.)
