My dad has an HP Pavilion Desktop with VISTA . HE uses it mainly to write
songs on Finale 2007. He does not have internet connection.
We tried to do a simple spreadsheet in Works 8.5 tonight and have error
"Works 8.5 stopped" if we try to print or do page setup in spreadsheet or
data base. If we just type a document in what I would call "word" in other
versions, we can use page set up and we can print without error.

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: wksdb.exe
Application Version: 8.5.818.0
Application Timestamp: 430474ad
Fault Module Name: wksssdb.dll
Fault Module Version: 8.5.818.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 4304728c
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 0003bf71
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.768.3
Locale ID: 1033

I have tried uninstalling works 8.5 and reinstalling it through the Help
functions 3 or 4 times with no change.

Can someone give me a way to fix this?

Thanks very much,
opie

You might want to publish this in the following newsgroup where folks there
might be able to give better suggestions:
microsoft.public.works.win

Thank You very much, I went where you said, found a link to a patch. I
downloaded it to usb drive and went back to Daddy's this morning and 5
minutes later, works was working fine.
Thanks again
David

David, I am really curious why you weren't able to find the solution to the
problem with "Problem Reports and Solution" "View Problem History" the right
clicking on the Works crash and clicking "View Solution". The solution
would have pointed to the patch. I completely understand if you didn't know
you could "right clicK" on a problem because I didn't know right away
either. Maybe it would be better if "Windows Help and Support" specifically
called out that you can "right click" to view a solution?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

John

Much like everything else from Microsoft.

Cheers.
