Workgroups in XP Pro

I have an XP Pro Box and a laptop also running XP Pro. I set up a workgroup
and have both computers running into a Linksys router. The router is then
connected to my DSL. I can share the internet connection but I can not share
files or see myself or the other computer. This happens on both. Everything
is set up right, ans I can not find answers anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers, and tell it that they
connect to the Internet through a residential gateway (router). It
will make all the right settings.

If you've installed a firewall program (Norton, McAfee, PC-cillin,
eTrust, ZoneAlarm, etc), make sure that it's configured to allow
access on the local area network.

I have run the wizard with no luck. I have disabled all firewalls and have
no other internet programs running. I have also gone to extreams and
reloaded both systems, but to no avail. I know I am missing something.

Un-install the firewall programs, and don't re-install them until
everything is working. Your router acts as a firewall, protecting
your computers against Internet hackers, so it's safe to un-install
the firewall programs.

After un-installing them, go to Start | Run | Msconfig | Startup and
disable any firewall remnants.

Then, open a command prompt window (Start | Run | cmd) and see if the
computers can ping each other, both by IP address and by computer
name. For example:

ping 192.168.1.10
ping laptop

I do not have any firewalls installed curently. I can png back and forth
between machines. I can not see the workgroup or the shares. So I don't
know if it is a netbios problem or not. I have reset the TCP\IP stack and
checked for corupted winsocks. Everything looks OK.
