Workgroup templates on the network

We have several templates on a folder on our server. Connecting to them when
the users were on Win98 the tempaltes came up rather quickly. Now that most
of our users have migrated to Windows XP. By the way we use word 2002 sp3 it
takes about 30 seconds or more just to bring up the templates. Any
suggestions to look for? I've eliminted out anti virus software. If I move
the folder locally and point the file location within word locally the files
come up immediately just like they did when they used win98se? I can move
around the network quickly to the folder if I use file open etc..

Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the link Doug. We currently have something along these lines set
up. Everyone access various tempaltes on the network. They simply click on
an icon on their toolbar called. "template" and it firected them to a shared
drive on the network. Prior to migrating from Windows98se to XP when they
clicked on the icon"tempalte" fast as a blink of an eye they templates would
show up. Once I got them on the XP OS the same takes almost 30-45 secods.
Seems forever when you're staring at a screen. Any ideas on this or do you
think it's an XP issue not a word 2002 sp3 issue?

Thanks again :)

I think you missed the part of the article about having a local copy of the
workgroup templates folder which is updated upon login.
