I have a laptap running windows xp home and a desktop
running windows 2000 pro. I hooked each machine to a
linksys router that has a cable modem plugged into it. I
named each computer a seperate name and put SHELTON for
the workgroup on each machine. On the XP machine I ran
the connection wizard and shared a folder on the 2000
machine. When I go into computers near me the xp machine
shows up on the 2000 machine, but the 2000 computer does
not show up on the xp machine-both machines have ntfs
hard drives. I read an article that mentioned adding the
user name each person uses to each machine, but that did
not help. what do I need to do?

thanks,
John

Make sure that both machines have Netbios over TCP/IP enabled. Also, you can access the share without actually having to
browse to it. Go to Start>Run and type \\servername\sharename and click OK. That should open the share on the XP box.

Thank you,
Mike Johnston
