Ok I have.

1) Laptop (Win XP Home)
2) Laptop (Win XP Home)
3) PC (Win XP Pro)
4) PC (Win XP Pro)

All computers are on the same work group.
I can ping all computers
I am using a router to connect to the net and all computer have static IP
address.
I can see the following form the computer's

Laptop 1) can see computer 3 and not access it
Laptop 2) can see computer 3, computer 4. and access computer 4
PC 1) can only see it's self
PC 2) can see all. and access laptop 1

What is going on?

Try:

1. Check firewall and security software settings.

2. If either of the XP Pro machines are running classic file sharing,
switch to simple file sharing or create user accounts which match the user
names and passwords used to log onto the other machines.

3. On all machines run regedit and navigate to:

HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA

The value for RestrictAnonymous should be set to 0

4. Turn off the Computer Browser service on all but one machine.

Any idears?

Besides Doug's suggested firewall, restrictanonymous and browser tweaks, try my
checklist. There are a couple more possibilities.

Or provide "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each computer, so we can
diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow
instructions precisely (download browstat!):

Hi Doug:
I have a Win XP Pro (SP2) LAN through a router with three computers, C1,
C2, and C3. C2 and C3 are accessible but not C1. Internet sharing is fine.
C3 is the Master browser for Simple File sharing.
Naturally I have Computer Browser service on for all three systems, so
your idea was a new one for me. Which systems should have Computer Browser
on and which off?
Thanks, CMA

Hi CMA,

Please see my notes in your thread. I'll try to keep the details there, to make
it easier for both of us.

The other computers have the subnet set to 255.255.255.0. Either change the
others or change this one. As this one is set to be the master browser and
the others can't see it fixing this may fix your problems.

Glad to help. Sometimes in the heat of the battle it's easy to overlook the
