Hello,

Please could you help me with the following issue? You must forgive
my lack of technical knowledge and jargon!

I have a laptop running Windows XP which is part of a small
workgroup. I have a drive mapping to a shared folder on our main PC
but this will not connect automatically. In order to connect, I have
to force it to do so manually through 'My Computer'.

Also, if I try to browse the network by going to 'My Network Places' --
'Entire Network', I get the following error:

"<Name> is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out
if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this
workgroup is not currently available."

If I look at the list of attached devices on the router, mine is the
only one which is not correctly named (device = unknown).

I think that these problems might all be linked. We have another
laptop which as far as I know is set up just the same as mine and this
works perfectly exhibiting none of the above problems.

I have tried to research this on the Internet a bit - could it be to
do with 'File and Printer Sharing' or 'Use NetBIOS Setting From DHCP
Server' setting?

Any thoughts suggestions much appreciated. Thank you in advance for
your help.

1. Check the case sensitivity of the workgroup name.
2. Change the workgroup name to something else, apply, then change it
back, apply.
