Help - I'm tearing my hair out here !

I'm using the Access 97 Security features for the first
time for a database which resides on a network file
server. I plan to give the user a shortcut icon to open
the database which will use the WIF stored on the network
also, rather than the default one in C:\Winnt\System32
\System.mdw. (so that they get prompted to login if they
open this particular database but can open Access directly
without having to login for anything else)

I am trying to use the command line option /wrkgrp to
specify to use this file when opening this database but it
doesn't seem to be working. Regardless of what I put in
the shortcut, both normal Access started from my menu and
the database in question use whichever WIF I have
last "joined" by running WRKGADM.exe.

Any assistance you can give would be much appreciated

You must use your desktop shortcut to open the database. Access opened from
the Programs menu will open with your default system.mdw file, and if you
click on a database from Windows Explorer or My Computer you get the same
results. Your desktop shortcut should look like this:

"Path to MSACCESS.exe" "Path to the database" /wrkgrp "path to the workgroup
file"

That being said, if you can open your secured database with the default
system.mdw file then you didn't apply security properly. Download and
read-read-read the MS Access Security FAQ:

Thanks for the assistance. I didn't have the "Path to
MSACCESS.exe" bit in my shortcut command, having created
it automatically via Explorer before adding the /wrkgrp
param, putting that in seems to have fixed it.
