The have four computers-one router-all can access the internet.
However, I cannot access one xp home computer from the other three computers
although all show up in network neighborhood. I use a workgroup, all
computers members of workgroup, and all computers can be pinged-but lan
connection seems to be tweaked the wrong way.
The router provides ip assignments and DHCP is configured the same on all
four computers.
No sp2 installed yet. Any suggestions?

What happens when you try to access the XP Home PC? Did you create each user
account/password identically on all computers?

Bill,

Did you enable the Guest account on the problem computer, using Start - Run -
"cmd" - type "net user guest /active:yes" in the command window?

Do you have any firewall on the problem computer? Firewall configurations are
the most common causes of file sharing problems.

If no help yet, please start by providing ipconfig information for each
computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name, version, and SP level) with each ipconfig
listing.

paste.
Here they are anyway and it looks to me I have a real misconfigured router!
See if you can determined that is the crux of my problem. and many thanks

Bill,

So did you enable the Guest account on the problem computer?

Which is the problem computer? Does the problem computer show up in Network
Neighborhood on all 3 other computers? Can you see, and access, all 3 computers
from the problem computer? Can you see, and access, all other 3 computers from
each other?

If the Guest account is properly enabled, the next thing to look for is a
firewall. Firewalls are a common case of "can't access" problems. Windows
Firewall (pre SP2) WILL cause file sharing problems if not configured properly.
