Olympic gold medal in the 200-meter dash with a time of 19.32, shattering

These performances in front of an American audience highlight a decorated
career for Johnson, who will be competing in his third Goodwill Games in
1998. Some of Johnsons accomplishments include:

4x400-meter relay team at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona);

· Only sprinter in history to be ranked No. 1 in the world for both
the 200 and 400 in the same year, having accomplished that feat in 1990,
1991, 1994, 1995 and 1996;

· Jesse Owens Award winner for 1994 and 1995;

both the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor championships and won 13 consecutive
200-meter finals.

Born Sept. 13, 1967, Johnson capped his 1996 season by winning the 400-meter
