words scrunched up on top of each other

This has happend to be several times.

I have a beautifully formatted word document, saved from about a year ago.
I update the document and resave before attempting to print. If I print to
my default printer, no problem. However, if I select a different networked
printer every line scrunches up to the left. At this point I am unable to
"undo" it. When I attempt to revert back to the doc saved just a second
earlier it is also scrunched up. If I close Word, restart it, and reopen the
document it is still scrunched. However, if I do a cut/paste of the
scrunched up stuff it pastes in the original format perfectly. What could be
causing this? [I created the document using the same version I am currently
using and this is not the only document to do this.] This problem is driving
me bonkers so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

According to contributor Bob Buckland: "It's a bug that somehow seems to
have Word misreading temporary files related to the printer currently in
use. You can usually 'unscramble' the display from File=>Print and switch
to the printer properties or to another printer then your normal one, or
close Word and delete all files found on Start=>Search and looking for
~$*.*;*.tmp as the name string then restarting Word." See also
