Word's "helpful" ways

How will Word stop "helping" me? When I type a number and some words, it
starts numbering everything by line. A. I don't always want that. B. I'm in
desktop publishing and that deletes the actual type and the formatting
doesn't carry over to Quark or InDesign. How can I turn the "helping" off?

Hi, Caty. In Word, click on Tools | AutoCorrect Options | AutoFormat As You
Type. Uncheck the "helpful" things you don't want. Personally, I have
everything except smart quotes unchecked.
