If you happen to have FrontPage, paste the graphic into a page. Then steal
the gif it builds from your web and put it back in your worksheet (Insert -
Picture - From file).
There are relatively inexpensive graphics programs you can use too. I think
mine was MicroGrafx Tool Kit, though I'm not sure, as I haven't installed it
yet on this machine. It provided lots of graphic (and design) tools.

is there a way to crop word art in excel? i seen somewhere that it said to
Actually, now that I think about it, I think you can use Paint (Start -
Programs - Accessories) in the same way. Save it as a jpg or gif, and insert
it into your worksheet.
How can we keep making this complicated if you insist on a nice simple
direct solution?

Copy>Paste Special>Picture(.jpeg)
Open the Picture Toolbar and use the "crop" button.
Rght-click on the wordart object: should bring up the Picture toolbar.
This has Crop as one of its buttons.
When finished cropping, copy the Wordart and paste it into a suitabl
"other" application which offers optional formats for saving. Tr
Paint, for example (standard Windows accessory): this has a JPE
option.
