Word 2007

I want to split the screen on the document I'm editing.
I go to the View ribbon tab.
I look at the Windows section.
It shows a grey Remove Split.
There is no "split" icon.
The Help indicates there should be a split icon.
Where is icon to split view?

Thank you for your help.

That would seem to indicate that you are already split!

At the very top of the vertical scroll bar, there should be a tiny little
grey minus sign. You should be able to grab it with your mouse and pull it
down to create a split. AT that point, the Split Command changes to Remove
Split command.

It's not there! And I am not sure why.

I'm going into think mode and try and get some more help with this.

Bingo - That was what was causing the problem.
I thought I was going nuts or had a ghost in my machine.
Thank you all for your help!
