Word2003 table lines

Hi-

I have a document which is a large table created in Word97. (It's 1 full
page.) Some cell lines are visible, but most are set to be blank. Looks good,
and prints just fine.

When I open this document in Word2003, all of the cell lines are visible and
print on the hardcopy. in Word2003 how do I blank out the lines I do not want
?

If you have applied a Table AutoFormat, possibly it is automatically
updating?

Thanks. I certainly did not intentionally go into Table AutoFormat. In fact,
I'm not sure what it does. If I somehow made a setting that I should not
have, how do I go back to the default settings?

Also, I've just had to work on another document. It is 100% OK in Word97,
but all the lines appear when I open it in Word2003. (Some cell lines should
be visible, but most should not.)

There must be some setting in Work2003 that turns on all table cell lines,
even when one goes into the table and makes them invisible. This seems to be
a general setting, and not document specific.

If this were just a display issue, I would assume you were seeing table
gridlines or text boundaries, but the fact that they print is puzzling. Go
to Table | Table AutoFormat... and see what format is selected (probably
Table Grid). Change to Table Normal (if available), which should remove
either all the border or, with luck, just the ones you didn't apply. There's
a button in that dialog to make any selected AutoFormat the default for the
particular document or for all new documents based on the attached template.

Suzanne-

I was able to go to Table | Table AutoFormat and change the setting from
Grid to Normal. This wiped out all of my lines, but I was able to put back
the required ones.

Thanks for your help. I never would have thought to look there.
