When I try to cut and paste text to a word xp document, all that appears is a
red square. If I paste again, another red square comes up, etc. How do I get
text to show? Thank you.

Where are you cutting the text from? When you cut, is it actually disappearing
from that place?

If you go into Edit/Paste Special after cutting, what option is selected in the
list of possible paste format? And what other options are offered?

May be related so I added it here. Same problem with Excel and PowerPoint.

When I print I can see the pictures, but on the screen I
have a red x. If it is a Visio document, a double click will bring open Visio
embedded in the word document. If it is not a Visio document, then I get
properties. By the way, if I paste the picture from Vision, I get the Error !
Not a valid embedded object.

FWIW, This last sounds like a known problem with the Norton anti-virus Office
Plug-in.
