Word Will Not Associate To .doc

B

Boss

Ok,
I am running on Vista Premium, and ever since I bought Office 2007 I have
had an ongoing issue.

At first I was simply able to double click on a word doc, and open it.... as
you would expect.

But now it will not open. I can open word, and use ctrl+o to open my file,
but really for the cost of Office, this isn't good enough.

Im not an idiot, so if you are going to tell me to "open with" please do not
bother, I know the usual solution, editing file associations etc... they do
not work, as they are not able to recognise Word as a valid win32
application.

For some unrelated reason 'reg edit' will not initialise from my command
bar, so I can not edit that way.

Also, Word does seem to associate with .docx and other doc file types, its
literally just .doc it wont associate to.

It seems to be running SP2 for office, any solutions please?

Many thanks,

G

If you don't have access to the registry, there is not a lot you can do to
fix this, but when you find out why you don't have access to the registry
editor (try running regedit as adminstrator) see
