Word to PCL

I am looking for a way to convert word documents into PCL format.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Presumably you can use "Print to file" with a PCL printer selected.

If I do that it creates a PCN file. Is this comparable to PCL? What
is the difference?

Let's back up a bit. Why do you want a PCL file? What do you plan to do with
it?

I just started my new job on Monday and the application that we have is
written in DB/C. What we want to do is be able to output formatted
templates (including images, bold fonts, etc.) from a print call inside
of our application. Right now it is handled internally, but we cannot
add formatting to the text with the way that the DB/C code is
implemented. SO they asked me to find a way to output a text file into
..PCL format and our application will call and print it. This way I
figured we could use Word or open office to format the template and
then create a PCL file from it.

THanks anyway for the responses. I just posted to
microsoft.public.word. Maybe a good question to ask would be, what is
the difference between a .PCN and .PCL file?

Sorry, typo, it is actually a .PRN file.

A .prn file is what you get when you use "print to file." It's a file
formatted for a specific printer and can be used only by that printer.

Probably a .pdf file might be more appropriate.

If you look in the .prn file you will see that it contains PCL commands.
