I have Microsoft Word 2002. Every time I go to close the
program, I get this message:

"The file Normal already exists. Do you want to replace
the existing file?"

I clicked no and then it brings me to a "save as"
window. I clicked cancel and another question is asked:

Changes have been amde that affect the global template,
Normal. Do you want to save those changes?"

Then I clicked "no".
The program is closed properly. However when I close the
program again the same thing happens and I perform the
same response. I don't know why it keeps on doing this.
I open up Word either by the icon or by "new office
document".

So, I have a couple of questions:
1) What is a template? Global template?
2) Is there a chance that I may have changed this
template Normal?
3) Most importantly, what can I do to stop this
message from popping up...again?

Thank you!!!

Like I told you when you posted this same question yesterday, Normal is the
name of the template file that is opened when you first open Word. It's
called Normal.dot, and it's a blank document that has all the settings you
want to use for page size, margins, spacing, etc. Just say yes to the
questions, it's no big deal. You can delete the Normal.dot file and it will
get recreated when you open Word again.
