Word should simplify mechanisms for bullets, number lists, and ou.

Despite being very familiar with many types of computer applications, I am
continuously frustrated with the bullet, number list, and outlining functions
in Word. No matter how often I try to set up a solid outline format for an
entire document from the beginning, I end up giving up after experiencing
irregularities.
I would much prefer the more simplified function available in OneNote that
allows you to pick a number/letter/bullet format from a long list. For some
reason, it never has any problems with inconsistent spacing, starting at the
wrong number/letter, etc.
