Word should have an option to alphabetize lists

I have a list of 150 names that is different every week and have to
alphabetize it each time. Word should have an option to alphabetize lists so
that I dont have to read through and copy and paste into a new list

Word has had this functionality from its earliest versions. Select the list
and choose Sort from the Table menu.

It does, it's just not obvious if the list you want to sort is not in a table.

Select the list, then go to Table/Sort (it will work even if you're not in a
table).

When I select the whole list and then do table/sort a box comes up that says
"word found no valid records to sort"

Turn on nonprinting characters by clicking the ¶ button, and look at the end
of each name. Is there a left-pointing arrow instead of a paragraph mark (¶
symbol)?

If so, Word thinks your whole list is only one item. You can fix this by
opening the Replace dialog, entering ^l (that's a lower case L) in the
Find What box and ^p in the Replace With box, and clicking Replace All.
Then try sorting.
