Two days ago my Windows XP word processor worked just fine. Today, it
doesn't. I try and open it from the menu, it just hangs there, using up my
CPU until I have to use Task Manager to quit. I can't open files saved in
this either, it has the exact same result.

I'm puzzled, angry and I want my processor back!

Please help.

Thank you.

There are MANY Word processors for Windows XP. The only ones provided
*with* XP are the very stripped down Wordpad and Notepad.

If you are actually talking about MS Word, or perhaps Corel's
WordPerfect then say so, and indicate the version, and even try the
newsgroups devoted to those products.

It would be good if we knew what word processor you were talking about -
Word, Wordpad, Notepad, word perfect, etc.
As this has only occurred int he last two days have you attempted a system
restore (start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore) to a
date prior to the problem starting? This may actually solve the problem for
you.

There is no such thing as a "Windows XP word processor." Windows XP can run
many different word processers, and it's difficult to help if you don't tell
us which one you are asking about. Windows itself comes with Notepad (which
is really a very prinitive text editor, rather than a word processor) and
WordPad (which is slightly more capable, but is still more a glorified text
editor than a full-featured word processor).

There are many word processors on the market. Microsoft Word is most
popular, but there is also WordPerfect, Microsoft Works, the word processor
in StarOffice or OpenOffice, etc. Which one are you asking about?
