Word page numbers

How do you get rid of all page numbers in a document?
Mine are in the right margin, grayed-out (not in
headers). No option for excluding page numbers is given
under Page Numbers under Insert is provided. That only
allows headers, footers, and Right. That certainly is
where I would expect to find "None," as in WordPerfect.\

I suspect your page numbers are in a frame anchored in the header or footer.
When you use Insert>Page Number, Word inserts the page number in a frame in
the position specified. However, if you open header and footer view you can
grab that frame and move the number anywhere on the page. Try opening the
header and footer view, select the number and then delete it. Make sure you
select the fram as well.
