Wordpad.DOC ? extention DOC is a word document and cannot be opened by
worpad. if this is a text document you will have to rename the extention from
DOC to TXT and it will open, if it is just text, understand that if the
document have formating, graphics wordpad will not open the document.

(Top posted to keep with previous format:)

A kbs (kilobyte) is actually 2^10 (2 to the 10th power) which is 1024 bytes.
A mb (megabyte) is 2^20 which is 1,048,576 bytes.
A Gb (gigabyte) is 2^30 which is 1,073,741,824 bytes.
but in general use terms, frequently the calculation of hard drive capacity, they round it off and
say a kb = 1000 bytes,
a mb equals 1,000,000 bytes or 1000 kbs and a GB equals 1,000,000,000 or 1000 mb

Hence a harddrive manufacturer will say that his drive is 20 GB, they mean 20,000,000,000 bytes.
But actually in pure base 2 mathematics that is 20,000,000,000 divided by 1,073,741,824 = 18.62 GB
as will be shown by Windows.

working on the page files

kb or Kb= kilobit
kB or KB = kilobyte
mb or Mb = megabit
MB or mB = megabyte

Generally the "K" or "M" is capitalized. A lower-case "b" means bit.
An upper-case "B" means byte.

1 byte = 8 bits (Nowadays. Used to be 1 byte = 6 bits, but that was
when punched cards ruled computers.)

kilo = 1,000

mega = 1,000,000 = 1,000 kilo

To convert from Kb to Mb or from KB to MB, divide by 1,000. To convert
from Mb to Kb or from MB to KB, multiply by 1,000.

1 MB = 8,000 kb (one megabyte is 8,000 kilobits)

I use a 56 kbps dial-up modem. That's 56,000 bits per second or 420,000
bytes per minute (0.42 MBpm).

Confused? Good!

1024.

There are 1024 bytes in a kilobyte, 1024 kilobytes in a megabyte, 1024
megabytes in a gigabyte, 1024 gigabytes in a terabyte, etc.
