Word/Office Passwords

I cannot access several files I have password protected. I did not forget my
password. I am not entering it incorrectly.

Something in Word/Office has changed the stored password so that my password
no longer satisfies the challenge. This is true for all files, except one,
which I frequently use.

Conincidentally - and I am not sure if they are related issues; perhaps just
interesting coincidents - I have been receiving the following message while
closing Word - "you have changed your normal.dot fie. do you want to save
the changes".

Any suggestions.

Nothing has changed in Word that should affect your passwords. However start
with http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm then
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm
Then before re-opening Word repair it from setup on the original Office
installation disc.

When you restart Word, set the option to always make backups, and then close
Word. Agree to the prompt to save changes to normal.dot.

Word *may* now allow you to open your documents, however if they have become
corrupt (when did you last run checks on your hard drive) then Word is
unlikely to be able to open them.
