Word is automatically generating PDFs when opening a .doc

Word XP is automatically creating a PDF when a .doc is opened. Does anyone
know how to disable or deactivate this? I have uninstalled and reinstalled
Acrobat 7.0.
Is there some macro or template that is causing this?

If you are getting this instead of a basic blank document then you need to
close Word, find and delete normal.dot (be sure you have Windows Explorer
set to show hidden files when you try to find it) and then restart Word.
Word will create a brand new one for you. Check
