I have VISTA and Office 2007.

I created a QUIZ in Word using radio buttons. When converting to a pdf the
buttons look funny and they are not selectable. Is there something I need to
do in WORD to make it selectable in a pdf?

Although radio buttons can be used in Word 2007 format documents, Word 2007
does not provide the tools on the developer tab to add them. Even if you
include them, a conversion to PDF will not retain them as working buttons.
You need to create a PDF form for that and to do so you need a full
(expensive) version of Acrobat from version 8 onwards to edit the PDF file.
PDF as output from Word should be considered as a graphical representation
of the document - a printout.
