Hi =?Utf-8?B?U3RldmVN?=,
When my client opens word, the tool bar jerks about or flickers. It does it
for a few seconds then opens normally. It also takes a little longer to
close. This a fairly recent problem. They run Xp and Word 2003.They do not
have Endnote installed.
It sounds as if they may have some other Addin installed, however. If they
hold down the CTRL key when starting Word - to go into Safe Mode - does the
problem go away both when starting and exiting?
If yes, the first place to check would be in the Starup folder. What file
types are in there? If any files in there are moved to another folder, then
Word is started, has the problem disappeared? If yes, move the files back into
the Startup folder, one by one, and you can figure out the culprit by process
of elimination.
If it's not a template or *.wll Addin in the Startup folder, then it's
probably a COM-Addin. Pull the COM Addins management tool out of
Tools/Customize, Tools category, and work through what it lists.
If that's not it, then see this KB article:
WD2002: Some COM Add-Ins Are Not Listed in COM Add-Ins Dialog Box
