Is there a way to place a Word document on a site for
viewing, so that when a user opens it - it will not ask
for a password. This is very annoying!

I have all Office 2000 updates on my pc and it still
continues to ask for net. pass.

I have also tried in Word to protect the document with a
password, and then I selected to protect it as a form.
Still asks for pass. HELP please!

Thanks.

Can you provide a URL to the page that link to this Word Document?

Julie,

I can open all three Word documents in Word 2000.

Do you know Kathleen Anderson?
She works for the State of CT, and may be able to help you with this.

Try hitting cancel three times. If it comes up then its a Office service
pack issue. You can fix it by upgrading office to the latest service pack.
(Note you will have to do that on all the client machines having the
problem... lots of times it's just easier to say "press cancel if you get a
prompt" near the link.)

I clicked on two of your Word docs - all I'm getting is a prompt to download and
save it on my hard drive.
(like you would usually right-click and save target as..... but in this case
normal left-clicking brings up the 'save file' box. (nothing about a password
required).

Using word/office 2000, the user must have at least SR-1 installed.
