Word doc produces dots when I hit the space bar

My word doc is producing the dot when I hit the space bar.
Any one has Idea how to make this behave normally?

This is because you have Show/Hide feature on. On the Standard toolbar
click the Paragraph sybol to turn it off (right next to zoom %)
 
I think I got it!!
go to:
On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the View tab
Formatting marks Then turn-off Spaces
