Hello Stefan,
Thanks for the info.
But we have Microsoft word version 2000 installed, which does not have the
"Compare nad Merge" Feature.
Can you suggest some solution for comapring documents in this version.

Well, one way to visually compare documents side by side in Word 2000
is to open the documents, minimize any other open applications,
right-click the
taskbar and choose to Tile Vertically.

Another approach is to use Tools>Track Changes>Compare Documents. This
investigates the differences between documents and adds them as
tracked changes.

Do you still have the "past copy" as a separate file? If not, there's
no way.

If the "past copy" is a separate file, you can use the free CSDIFF
utility to compare them:

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure Compare has been on the Tools menu for many,
many versions. Compare Side by Side is new, but it is not what you want,
anyway. And you don't actually want to merge the document, just compare one
to other and have it display markup (which is comparable to Track Changes).

My reference to Tools>Track Changes>Compare Documents (in a previous
response) is for Word 2000.

Thanks, Stefan. I never used Word 2000 and haven't used any of these
features until very recently, so I'm not very familiar with the menu
structure for the features.
