word display problem

I changed the acceleration from full down to two divisions lower...no change.

Second mark from the right? Some people here report that they
need to reduce the acceleration setting to the third mark from
the left.

Change it all the way.
There is likely to be a graphics driver update available from your display
adapter manufacturer that will fix this.
Intel and ATI chipsets were the worst offenders and both now have fixes
available.
