word closes when clicking on program from taskbar

Has anyone experienced this and what did you do? I will be working in Word
and if I go to another program and click on the document from my taskbar to
return to my document, Word closes. When I open it up, it shows the
documents I was working on in the restored file, but this is happening often
and only recently. Any suggestions?
