Word believes my office assistants' file has gone

Word and excel are both coming up with the message "There are no office
assistant character files on the system". Not only have the files I had
previously not been deleted but I have since downloaded two new ones to no
avail.
 
Those two new ones stole all of the rest - and then ran off together.
