Word attachments to Outlook Express sends duplicate emails

PLEASE HELP...
When I attach a Word document to an email in Outlook Express, the recipient recieves it multiple times (up to 76 times!). This is not good for business. I've disabled sending email on my anti-virus, which hasn't helped. What else can I do?
