Word Addressbook for envelope, exchange server only why

When I click the addressbook icon on the envelope and labels screen in Word
2003 it does not give me an option to choose an addressbook. I get an error
message that states "You must log onto Microsoft exchange server to access
your addressbook". I want to use my local addresses and contacts. How do I
change this setting?

Are you using Outlook 2003 as your default mail client? If not, this feature
is not available.

I may have a similar issue, I'm not quite sure. My problem is that the
Insert Address button is not even visible on my Envlope and Label
screen. Is this the same issue? My company uses Lotus Notes and I
generally use Outlook Express for my personal email.

Are you using Outlook 2003 as your default mail client? If not,
this feature
is not available.

You're saying you must of Outlook selected as your default mail client
in Internet Explorer->Tools->Programs tab, correct? And are you saying
it must be Outlook, and not Outlook Express?

I have another computer that is NT 4.0 where the address book is
available and OE is selected as the default, but that computer does of
Outlook installed. I'm trying to get it to work on XP Pro where
Outlook is not installed, but OE is.

You *must* use Outlook and not OE to have the address book available in
Word - unless you have Microsoft Exchange installed (an expensive corporate
communications package). I never worked with NT4, but it may have the
necessary elements of Exchange available.
