Word 97 query

How do I turn off the auto-formatting in Word 97 that causes it to add bits
to a date when I type it? At the moment, I type "18 August 2004" and as
soon as I type the last digit Word adds its own formatted date and I need to
delete it before I can go on.

And it's getting REALLY annoying!

Thanks in advance.

The only way to turn it off, unfortunately, is to disable AutoComplete
entirely. As mentioned in another thread, these two workarounds are the best
you can do without doing that:

1. Type a space after the date before pressing Enter.

2. Include a CreateDate field in the document template so that you don' t
have to type the date.

Umm, I've been hit with the stupid stick - where do I turn that off?

Thanks.

Tools | AutoCorrect, AutoText tab, uncheck "Show AutoComplete suggestions."
If you don't use AutoText, this is probably no loss.

(hopefully this redeems my previous misstep on the other thread :)

Thanks.
