Just tried to find a string of initials, ABC, and replace with there
words spelled out in full, Alpha Bravo Charlie, but Word 7 beta
returns ALPHA BRAVO CHARLIE. I can't see a way of specifying that I
want upper and lower case and not capitals. Is there one? Earlier
versions didn't work like this.

Hi Peter,

FWIW, MS Office Word 2007 is v12, v7 was Office 95.

The Replace dialog is largely unchanged in Word 2007, other than how you get to it from the ribbon :) (Ctrl+H will still pop up the
dialog <g>.

With the dialog open click on the 'More' button on the left side and choose the 'Match Case' option before you do the change and see
if you get the results you wanted.

Yes, was having an away day there.

No problem there (still with Ctrl+H)

You are quite right. I was mislead by the dialog 'Options: Match Case'
appearing under the 'Find what:' into thinking that it would search by
case. I don't remember having to set this before.
Many thanks for your advice.
