Word 2007 should not drop blue background white font feature

Beta 2 is the best Word ever. I am impressed (overwhelmed) with the
usability advances that MS has achieved. But why remove the view blue
background white font option? It should be returned as quickly as possible.

I don't think there are enough voices out there to make MS reconsider
this decision. While I've been using white-on-blue every now and again,
the percentage of users who even knew this feature exists seems
marginal, and those who really used it is even smaller.

OTOH, I hope that not only the color schemes for menus etc., but for the
writing window itself can be changed through Windows (Vista) to your
likeness once the product ships.

I am one of those that was not aware of the blue background - just curious...
what is the purpose of this background or white lettering?

Originally, it was to entice users of WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS, which
always displayed white-on-blue. Except for a few diehards who were
never going to switch anyway, that reason disappeared nearly 10 years
ago.

Some people find white-on-blue to be easier on the eyes than
black-on-white. Instead, others adjust the white to off-white or
ivory, using the Windows Control Panel's display applet.

Thanks Jay!
You know I had forgotten that... I was a 5.1 user with (I think) my old
Tandy 1000 back when Disco was alive.... scary...
