Am I correct in understanding that in Office 2007 you can no longer "share"
your auto text items via a template/visual basic?

Is the BuildingBlocks collection listed in other posts something additional
one has to purchase in order to use autotext entries?

Is it also correct that I cannot create my own ribbon to add macros to
instead of adding them all to the main quick tab?

I like several of the features of Office 2007, but I have to say I really,
really hate the new mail merge type tab. It is clunker and takes more effort.

Thank you,
John

AutoText feature became part of the new Quick Parts. You should get a set of
Building Blocks with your product. They're stored in buildingblocks.dotx
file - do a search on your machine. If nothing shows up in the Quick Parts
dropdown, try deleting your existing buildingblocks.dotx file.

Creating your own Ribbon tabs: there's no way to do it from within the
apps, no. Custom Ribbon tabs can be created and used via add-ins, though.
Over the next year or so you'll probably see some of these emerging onto the
market as companies who market Office add-ins switch to the new version of
Office. If you're interested in writing code for your own Ribbon tab (or to
add groups of controls to existing Ribbon tabs), pop out to MSDN where there
are some articles on how to do it.

Thank you for your help.

What is the answer for those documents in Word 2000 that I have created that
include "ask" and "fillin" choices.

Thank you,
John

Hello John
What is the answer for those documents in Word 2000 that I have created that
include "ask" and "fillin" choices.

FWIW, nothing I've read so far indicates that these fields have stopped
working in Word 2007.
