I just installed Office 2007 and would like to change the menu style back to
the old style (File, Edit,....) from the one that comes up as installed. for
example with the current style I cannot even do a Help>About. I'd like to
get back to the good old Microsoft Windows menu style. I'd also like to do
the same to Excel 2007.

Hello there,

The new user interface which we call the Microsoft Office Fluent User
Interface is designed to make our lives easier if I may say so. However there
is no way for you to return to the old user interface, but there are some
companies that create add-ins for Microsoft Word that will at least give you
the feel of the previous versions:

One of them is Menu Bar for Word, it is a free add-in for Microsoft Word.
You can check it out at the Office Marketplace >>
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/EM102220621033.aspx?pid=CE011347481033

Another one is Classic Menu for Office 2007, which I think is not free you
can check it out at the office marketplace >>
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/EM102220661033.aspx?pid=CE011439251033.

Aside from these plug-ins / add-ins we have the Get Started Tab for Word
2007, Excel 2007 and PowerPoint 2007; These are additional tabs in the ribbon
which links to several resources in Office Online that cen help you speed up
with Microsoft Office.

You can check out the Word 2007 Add-in: Get Started Tab for Word 2007 at

Hope this helps!

Seems like a "Catch 22' here. Earlier today i posted a question about
printing to Acrobat Distiller and received reply saying that Microsoft
offered a "Save as PDF or XPS" Add-in so I don't need Acrobat. But to
activate that add-in, according to the instructions at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...11-3e7e-4ae6-b059-a2e79ed87041&displaylang=en
I need to click Downloads on the Tools menu. What is Microsoft thinking?
They offer this add-in, but no Tools menu. What gives?

It goes like this, some add-ins (e.g. Save as PDF or XPS, Getting Started
Tabs) are only offered to people like you who uses Genuine Microsoft
Software. In order to be able to download these add-ins you must pass
validation. Since you may be using a Mozilla-based browser you were
redirected to a page that gives you an instruction on how to download,
install and run the validation tool from your Mozilla-based browser.

Thank you, Cindy M., but the free add-in solved my problem, once I figured it
out.
