Switch to Draft view (on the View tab, click Draft). Then click the
References tab, and click Show Notes (in the Footnotes group). You'll now
see the footnotes pane as in previous versions.
If you want a full line for the footnote separator, you can copy the
footnote continuation separator and then paste it, replacing the footnote
separator.
Editing the footnote separator in Word 2007 is much the same as it was in
earlier versions - switch to normal view (now called draft view) and from
the references tab select 'show notes' . You can do what you want with the
footnotes and the separator from the ensuing dialog.
