Word 2007 Freeze Table of Contents

I have various layerings of Tables of Contents in a Word Doc. I want to
freeze a couple of these TOC's so that they will not autimatically update
themselves when I convert the doc to pdf (or print the doc?).

It looks like the answers on this site in the past show to select the TOC
and push Control Alt 9. This isnt working so I am thinking that this feature
works for an older verion of Word.

No, Ctrl+Alt+9 would do nothing. Even Ctrl+Alt+F9 would do nothing. What you
want, to unlink the TOC, is Ctrl+Shift+F9. This is irreversible, however. If
you want something reversible, lock the TOC with Ctrl+F11 (you can then
unlock with Ctrl+Shift+F11).
