What does this mean in Word 2007 in the Find dialog box? I can't seem to
figure it out.

It means that the search string is one that begins a word eg searching for
'law' with the match prefix option will find law in
lawful but not outlaw
similarly the suffix option will find law in outlaw but not lawful.
