Word 2007 - Document Name Field

L

Lisa N.

A document name field has begun printing on all of my letters. The
field/document name is not related to the document (ie. document is named
"letter to frank" but "letter to eddie" is appearing on the document. In
addition, the exact same field (ie. "letter to eddie") is printing on all my
letters.
Do you know how to get rid of this? We have tried:
- it does not appear in headers/footers
- it continues to appear if the document is saved in rich text or plain text
format
- there are no section breaks that it might be hidden behind
- cutting and pasting the document into a clean document
- have both restarted and logged off
- have tried printing the letter from a different computer
- "print document properties" is deselected in Options
Any help would be appreciated.

It sounds like that bit was saved in Normal.dotm. Take a look here:

http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm

Note: the main default template in Word 2007 is normal.dotm, not normal.dot.
The usually solution is to delete that file and let Word create a new one.
If your letters are using a different template, then you'll need to
translate the instructions accordingly.
