WORD 2007 - APPEARANCE OF HYPERLINKS

G

Gator Girl

I want to have hyperlinks - but:
= I don't want them to change the color of the text when the are applied.
= I don't want them to be underlined
= I don't want them to change to purple or any other color when they are
accessed.

In other words, I want them to be invisible. I've tried to pull the answer
from the Search Results, however, I think many of them refer to earlier
versions of Word.

Anybody familiar with me knows I'm a real dummy when it comes to this stuff,
so please, if you have the answer, give it to me step by step.

Thank you.

- Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S to open the Styles pane.
- If the list of styles is short, click the Options link in the lower right
corner and choose to show "All styles" in alphabetical order.
- In the list of styles, right-click the Hyperlink style and choose Modify.
- In the Modify Style dialog, turn off the underline (the U button) and set the
color to Automatic. Near the bottom, select the option for "New documents based
on this template". Click OK.
- In the list of styles, repeat the preceding step with the FollowedHyperlink
style.

I tried following Jay's directions below but my 2007 MS Word still will not
create automatic hyperlinks. The only way I can get a hyperlink is to
highlight the url I typed, right click on it, select hyperlink, and then past
in the url in the box. I've looked in the Styles pane and made some changes
there but nothing makes the hyperlinks automatic. Help

And can I piggyback another question here? How do I get the small fractions
like I used to get in MS Word 2002. I would type 1/2 hit the space bar and
it would automatically convert to a small one half.

Another plea for help. Thanks in advance.

My directions to GatorGirl have nothing at all to do with whether
typed URLs are automatically converted to hyperlinks; they were only
to change the appearance of hyperlinks that already exist.

In Word 2007, go to Office button > Word Options > Proofing >
AutoCorrect Options > AutoFormat As You Type. Check the box for
"Internet and network paths with hyperlinks".

For your second question, in the same dialog, check the box for
"Fractions (1/2) with fraction character". For fractions other than
the few that have special characters in most fonts, see
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/CreateFraction.htm.
