Good Morning,

I have created a form in Word with several tables. The problem i'm having
with the tables is that the Total column does not update when you change the
numbers. I have to print the forms in order to see the update.

Is there a way to Automatically update totals in a Word Table?

Thanks,

Many fields, such as formulae, do not automatically update. Yours is updating
when printing because in Tools, Options, Print, Update fields is checked in
the Printing options settings.
To manually update, try Ctrl+A (to select all the document), then F9 to
refresh all fields in the document (including the TOC, etc), or right mouse
click the individual field, Update Field.

This is for 2003 and prior, maybe different for 2007.
Hope this helps.

Word makes use of fields to calculate sums. You can explicitly update these
and other fields in the selection by pressing F9.

Thank you both for you quick response.........Is there a way to automate this
in Word so that I dont have to select the field and hit F9 each and every
time. I creating this forms for many users and i'm afraid they may not
understand.

Thanks,

If the total field is a result of values entered into form fields, make sure
that the "Calculate on exit" box is checked in the Form Field Options for
each field that contributes to the total.
