Word 2003 problem

Guest

I am using Word 2003 and I am trying to do a postcard with a photo and text
over the top. When I try to add a text box the picture goes away. When I
try to change the layout setting in the format picture dialog box it also
makes the photo go away. I have been doing these documents for years on this
and other computers and I have never had a problem. Suggestions please?

Hi pete424

Try this: double-click the picture. You'll see the Format Picture dialog
box. On the Layout tab, set the photo as "Behind text". Do the same for the
text box and set it "In front of text".

Hope this helps.

When you say "goes away" do you mean it *disappears* or that it moves to a
different location? If it disappears is it just the picture or does the
bounding box disappear as well?

Could it be that a Drawing Canvas is being created when you click the Text
Box tool (or select Text Box from the Insert menu)?

If that's it you can either press Escape before drawing the Text Box to
remove the Canvas or you can go to Tools> Options> General & clear the
checkbox to avoid it altogether.

....Also, make sure that in Layout - Advanced that the Allow Overlap check
hasn't been cleared.
