Word 2003 not enough memory or disk space error?

My daughter has been working on a school project in Word 2003 for the last 2
days.
The doc. has graphics, internet pics and text. She has been saving it and
opening it with no problem until today. The file now comes up with "There is
not enough memory or disk space to display or print the picture.", what has
happened? Even the graphic text the she created in the doc. will not show.

When was the last time the computer was restarted? Often that will help.

Is she saving the document to some kind of flash / USB drive? If so, you
may need to manually copy that to the computer since Word creates a
temporary file nearly the same size as the document and may be filling
the flash drive past capacity.

I have restarted the computer - cleared the cookies, temp files - and the
program has been saved on the computer harddrive.

Alright - Now let's try to open the file and repair it.

With Word already open, select the File, Open command.
Browse to where the document is located.
Click ONCE to select the document, but not open it, just yet.
In the lower corner of the dialog box is an Open button. Just right of
the button is a down arrow.
Select "Open and Repair".

Hopefully the document will open.
If it does, turn around and save it with a new name, and repeat the
process with the *new* document to make sure you've cleaned out all the
problems.

Ok, did the open and repair, so the file now opens with out the memory
problem, but still no pictures. Running out of time so cut and pasted that
which could be salvaged into Publisher.
Could the problem be that Word will only allow a certain amount of memory
usage per doc. and just didn't like have 25 pages of multiple pictures?

Thank you for your help.

Graphics are very memory intensive. One way to get around that in the
future would be to link to the graphics rather than embed them in the
document. There are some good tutorials about graphics here:
